About NY Waterway
New York Waterway Operates 9 Terminals in New Jersey with Service to Midtown & Downtown Manhattan – Edgewater, Weehawken (2), Hoboken (2), Jersey City (3) & South Amboy.
Since 1986, NY Waterway ferries have carried more than 200 million passengers, providing safe, fast, and convenient transportation for commuters and visitors to the New York City area.
NY Waterway operates more than 35 ferries in New York Harbor. With an Ultra-Modern fleet of fuel-efficient ferries, we strive to keep prices low. We operate the largest ferry fleet between New Jersey & New York, but we remain a family business with personal attention to service and amenities. You are treated like family from the moment you step into our terminals and onto one of our boats.
We also provide emergency services for ships and people in need. When the Twin Towers were struck by planes on September 11, 2001, NY Waterway Ferries evacuated nearly 200,000 people safely to New Jersey. On January 15, 2009, when US Airways flight #1549 crashed into the Hudson River, it was our ferries and people who helped evacuate most of the 155 people on board. There were no fatalities on what is now called the “Miracle on the Hudson.” Just 2 examples of how NY Waterway protects and serves.
